Sight Reading

Clapping

Clap these rhythms one bar at a time, then try putting them all together keeping in time.  

Up and Down the scale

Sing these exercises, all to a "La" sound.  Try on your own before doing it with the track. 

Grade 3 Practice Tests

You will get a chord and a starting note. Then you will have 30 seconds to look through your part (top line). After 30 seconds, you will get the chord and starting note again. I will count you in and then the test will begin. 

Remember to do it to a "La" sound. 

Aural

A. Clap The Tempo

Clap in time with the beat of the music with a strong clap on beat 1. Identify whether it is in 2, 3 or 4.

B. Echos

Sing back after each phrase. You will get a chord and starting note first then 3 phrases which you will sing back to a "La" sound.

C. Spot the difference

You will hear a piece twice with one difference the second time. Identify where the difference is and if it was a change in pitch or rhythm.

D. Questions

D1 - Did the changes in loud and quiet playing happen suddenly or gradually?

- Did the piece end in a major key or in a minor key?

D2 - Where was the loudest part of the music?
